‘Waziristan operation aimed at Mehsud, aides’

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Friday said the Waziristan operation targeted Tehreek-e-Taliban chief Baitullah Mehsud and his accomplices. Talking to reporters, the interior minister said the operation against the Taliban would continue until the complete elimination of terrorists from the country. To a question, he said the government had not signed agreements with any militant group in the past and would not do so in future either. Malik said he had talked to the Punjab chief minister to discuss terrorist threats to the province, in order that the Centre could collaborate with the provincial government for risk mitigation. tahir niaz
